Calling in, and the call PIN
How the person you added can call Rosie back, and how a PIN keeps those calls private.
The person you added doesn't have to wait for the next scheduled call. If they call the same number Rosie calls them from, Rosie recognizes them and they can talk.
The recognized number
Rosie recognizes calls from the phone number you entered in the setup, and only that exact number. It is shown under Manage, on the Call security tab, as Recognized number. A call from any other number hears a short public greeting instead.
The call PIN
A four-digit PIN makes sure it is really them before Rosie talks about anything private. Under When Rosie should ask for a PIN there are two choices:
- When this participant calls Rosie: on unless you turn it off.
- When Rosie calls this participant: off unless you turn it on.
Set the PIN
- Select Manage, then the Call security tab.
- Type four digits in PIN and again in Confirm PIN.
- Select Set PIN.
Once saved, the PIN can't be shown again, only replaced. They can also set their own under My settings, if they have their own sign-in.
Saying the PIN
When Rosie asks for the PIN, they should say the four digits out loud, one at a time: "four, seven, one, nine". Pressing the phone's keypad does not work.
Good to know
Home says "A call timed out at the PIN prompt." They called in but Rosie didn't hear the PIN in time. Check they know the PIN and to say it aloud. If PINs are a struggle, you can turn off When this participant calls Rosie and rely on the recognized number alone.
Does Rosie remind them about the PIN on calls? No. Until a PIN is set, your Home page lists Set a call-in PIN under Needs you instead. Setting a PIN, or turning off When this participant calls Rosie, clears it.
